Fellow Seedsmen of India, from the Asia Pacific Region and from other parts of the world.
It gives me an immense pleasure to announce that the National Seed Association of India is hosting its first-ever “Indian Seed Congress in 2010 during February 12-13 at Bengaluru, India”. The Congress will provide a platform for the Indian Seed Industry to come together and have serious interactions with eminent policy makers, scientists, researchers, breeders and all those involved in the business of seed development and distribution. The Congress, being an international event, will also provide a platform for the seedsmen of the world to congregate, interact with members of the Indian Seed Industry, and deliberate on various issues, technical or otherwise, that impact on the health of the industry in India and abroad. The theme of the Congress is “Seeds for Global Food Security” and it will be focused closely on the issues that threaten the food security in India and globally.
The Congress, through its many technical sessions would like to evolve answers to the issues raised and project them in a forceful manger to the policy makers and decision makers, across the globe. On a conservative estimate, about 600 delegates are expected to the Congress.
The Congress has also allocated more than adequate space for exhibition the products embodying new technologies and superior genetics for all to see and appreciate. The seed companies are most welcome to exhibit their products in the exhibition hall.
At the same time, the Congress also intends to provide a favourable ambience for trade in seeds. Dedicated tables and areas would be available for the seed companies to sit together and carry out trade negotiations.
The venue of the congress is Hotel Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru, which is a very reputed hotel in the city. Rooms have been blocked at the Lalit Ashok – the Congress venue hotel, Fortune Park JP Celestial (ITC Welcome Group) and Hotel Citrine at pre-negotiated special discounted rate for delegates. Brethren seeds men participating in Indian Seed Congress 2010 could avail these rates. As there is a heavy demand for hotel rooms in Bengaluru during February, participants are strongly advised to book their accommodation at the earliest to ensure confirmation at the preferred hotel. To book the rooms please check the accommodation section of the Congress website.
Bengaluru, as you may perhaps be already aware, is the capital of the State of Karnataka and has a very pleasant and congenial climate through out the year. The State of Karnataka boasts of a very rich history replete with acts of valour and chivalry and the rising and fall of powerful empires. Its cultural heritage includes the soul-stirring Carnatic music, Mysore school of painting and different classical dance forms, in particular, the Bharatnatyam. There are innumerable tourist-spots near Bengaluru which are a mirror of the rich history of the State, and of course, the seed farms in and around Bengaluru devoted to field crops and horticulture.
I would like to extend a most cordial invitation to our brethren seedsmen from India, from the Asia Pacific Region and from other parts of the world to come and participate in the Indian Seed Congress 2010. |
